Welcome to the Middle Eastern Dance Research Library (MEDRL).
We recently had the good fortune to acquire the library resources of the Washington Area Middle Eastern Dance Association (WAMEDA) research library.
Our mission is:
-to preserve the historical, educational, instructional, and recreational data which comprises the former WAMEDA library;
-to convert the data to a digital format (thereby preserving the old VHS from further tape degradation);
-to make that data available to the Middle Eastern Dance Community, locally and worldwide, through online viewing (no download or transfer of data will be allowed);
-to continue to expand the library contents through donations and purchases of appropriate content materials (inc. video, books, etc.)
This endeavor is a considerable undertaking – and there is much work to be done. We hope to launch in January 2010, with a new, web-based viewing platform – and you can help us achieve that goal. Donations toward the initial start up process are greatly appreciated. We have filed for 501(c)(3) consideration, and hope to be granted non-profit status.
Information will be provided soon regarding subscription options and rates.
We thank you for supporting this mission to preserve a valuable resource to our dance community.
